EPAL - Healthcare Windows

Throughout the past year, we’ve been very fortunate to meet many great people involved in healthcare planning and construction.  This includes architects, designers, contractors, healthcare administrators, and complementary vendors.  Along the way we heard similar sentiments and questions about healthcare windows.  Below are a couple of the most frequently asked questions and our responses:

Why build a company around healthcare windows?
The short answer is industry need.  Let us explain.  In April 2007, we were introduced to a Greek manufacturer of extruded aluminum windows and doors (EPAL ABEE) who sought to expand into North America.   Upon visiting the factory, we immediately knew they were producing a very special product.  Over the course of 15 years they had become the premier manufacturer of windows and doors in Greece, Cyprus, Germany, and Austria. Their accomplishment came from building only the highest quality products.

In Europe, residential and non-residential construction is very similar, and due to the robust nature of the products, we knew the general residential market wasn’t viable.  Upon further research into 11 non-residential markets, healthcare stood out as the market with a gaping hole in fenestration.  Trends in architecture and design called for “less clinical”, “homelike”, and “deinstitutionalized”.  At the same time, meeting code is still the #1 priority.   We realized with EPAL, we could satisfy both needs.

Next, we began visiting healthcare architects around the country with product samples to gauge the response.  As you can infer, the response was tremendous.
